What to expect for your ride
Expect to arrive at your scheduled ride time. When you get here, you will come to the office to pay the remainder of the ride and sign necessary paperwork. Only the $60 deposit needs to be collected prior to the ride so please make sure to bring your form of payment to the office.
If you need to cancel your ride, please let us know within 48 hours of your ride for a full refund of your deposit. Even if there is a cancellation of only some people in the party but others will still be arriving. Otherwise, the deposit is non-refundable.
What to wear:
Closed toed shoes are required and we recommend that you wear long pants.
It’s also recommended that you bring layers, but you will have to make that decision before getting on your horse. You will have to have your hands on your reins the whole time. Usually, it’s easy enough to decide what layer you will have on prior to going out on the beach.
Please leave anything in your car that you will not need for the ride. This includes but not limited to your keys, wallets and cell phones. These fall out of pockets and we are not able to stop while we are on the ride. We will be using your cell phone for pictures, so please hang on to one of your party’s cell phones and WE will take the pictures.
When it’s windy, hats like to fly off. If you want to wear one, please make sure it’s on tight. Again, if it flies off we will not be able to stop and get it.
Prior to the ride, you will be given a short lesson on how to ride our horses and how to stay safe. It’s important that you are listening carefully to this talk so that everyone on the beach is safe. It’s also important that you are following all safety expectations and following the guide’s directions while we are on the beach.
We provide helmets for anyone who would like to wear one. Anyone under the age of 18 MUST wear a helmet, but anyone over 18 can choose to wear a helmet if they want. Even though it’s not required, we do recommend that you wear one.
Please make sure we are aware if there is anyone over 200 lbs in your party by noting it in the reservation. We are only able to have up to 2 people in the party over 200 lbs, so we will do our best to get everyone on a ride even if it’s not at the time requested. It is also dependent on height, so we will be calling anyone above 200 lbs. This is for the well-being of the horses and for your safety so please make sure to be honest.
Since we have been guiding horses for so long, we know it’s not enjoyable for anyone. Therefore, we do not ride in the rain and watch the weather forecast closely the days before your scheduled ride. If it is forecasted to rain, we will need to reschedule or cancel. We are on the Oregon Coast, so sometimes the weather forecast is incorrect and we have to make that decision the day of the ride. If we need to cancel for weather, we will do our best to reschedule. If we are not able to reschedule, we will refund your full deposit.
